[Mozambique] E-visa facilitates investments

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Eldevina Materula, hopes that the electronic visa platform E-visa will serve to reinforce the fight against corruption, attract more foreign investment and boost tourism activity in the country.

Eldevina Materula highlighted that a project is underway to exempt tourist visas for the main tourist sending countries.

“This system aims to simplify the process for obtaining visas to enter the country, combat corruption, boost tourist activity in Mozambique and increase the number of visitors and revenue. The project that aims to exempt of visas for countries that present a high risk to Mozambique and even if they are of high interest to the State”.

With the E-visa system, being operated by the National Migration Service (SENAMI), wait; reduce bureaucracy, combat corruption, improve the business environment and encourage good governance.

It is important to note that according to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mozambique could reach the mark of 10 million tourists visiting the country by the end of 2025. The E-visa is part of the general visa regime for entry into the country, whose objective is is to promote a greater flow of tourists and businesspeople in the country, in line with the Package of 20 Economic Acceleration Measures (PAE).

“We hope that by 2025 we can reach the desired and beloved 10 million tourists in our country”, said the Minister.

In the first half of 2022, Mozambique registered around 350 thousand international visitors, compared to more than 200 thousand in the same period of 2021, representing an increase of 64 percent.
