A Netflix will expand its operations in Africa, with Angola being one of the countries on display for the production of cinematographic content.

The information was revealed in a company report, stressing that “expanding our business here(Africa) is a good thing for Netflix” based on the success of shows or series such as the South African “Sangue e Água”.

The streaming service said it had already invested the equivalent of 160 million euros in the production of cinematic content in Africa since it started working on the continent in 2016.

Currently, African operations are concentrated in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria, creating more than 12.000 jobs, underlines the company, reiterating that the objective now is to have operations in other countries on the African continent.

"This is a start, we plan to reach more countries on the continent“, said Shola Sanni, director of sub-Saharan Africa policy at Netflix, at a press conference in Johannesburg.

Currently, South Africa is the largest African contributor, with more than 170 films, series and documentaries.

The film “SANTANA” was the first Angolan film production to arrive on Netflix, which is a co-production of Maradona Dias dos Santos and Chris Roland. The film of the action genre, is a story based on real facts, of two brothers, one a general and the other, an agent of the narcotics division, who discover the identity of the drug dealer, responsible for the murder of their parents.
