Ports in the country will have their communication processes digitized

Angolan ports that are Members of the International Maritime Organization (IMO in English) will digitize their communication processes, within the framework of the Single Maritime Window (JUMA), from January 1, 2024.

This information was revealed by the President of the National Maritime Agency (AMN), Rosa Sobrinho, where she informed that among several candidate countries, the implementation of JUMA, where all member countries of the Organization will have to use a single portal for the clearance of ships, the Porto do Lobito was chosen for the pilot experience.

BUT: Port of Luanda presents technological services to facilitate interaction with customers

For this reason, the National Maritime Agency brought IMO, with whom it has been working online since 2021, to verify the work on the ground.

"All ships that appear in one of the IMO member ports must submit all their documentation from JUMA, which will also be used by all elements involved in port services such as brokers, shipping agencies, foreign emigration services (SME), General Port Administration (AGT) and Fiscal Police“, he asserted.

It should be noted that this technological innovation lies in the fact that those involved in port services, mainly shipping agencies, representatives of ship owners and brokers, are all interconnected and no longer use paper documents.
