Satellite TV service reaches 6% of national coverage

The number of households with access to satellite TV in Angola reached 6% of national coverage, according to figures released by the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM).

According to INACOM figures, for the year 2022, satellite TV subscriptions in the financial year of 2022 reached a total of 2,03 million subscriptions in cable and satellite, which represents an increase of 8 percent compared to to December 2021.

The satellite segment holds 94 percent of the share of subscribers, where data indicate that in December 2022 there was a considerable increase in the order of 167 thousand subscribers during the transition between November and December 2022, and in August of the same year 27 in every 100 Angolan households had access to satellite TV.

As for the mobile phone service, data indicate that the number of subscribers to basic services provided by network operators rose from 23,09 million in November 2022 to 23,9 million subscribers in December,

In the month of December 2022, 72 out of 100 Angolans had subscriptions related to the basic services of cellular mobile telephony networks in the national territory, with Unitel holding 70 percent of subscriptions.

As for the numbers of Internet users, the report also points out that in December 2022 at least 28 out of 100 Angolans had subscriptions to Internet services through fixed and/or mobile access.

Currently, operators in the mobile segment hold 93% of the share of subscribers nationwide. Regarding the fixed telephony network, in December 2022 there was a reduction, after a period of stability that had dragged on since December 2021, from 119,5 thousand subscriptions in November to 93,9 thousand subscribers in the following month.

In the month in question, 1 in every 100 homes and companies in Angola had subscriptions to basic services on fixed telephony networks, and around 98% of the share of subscribers is shared almost equally between the operators, TV CABO , MS Telcom and Angola Telecom, with 45, 36 and 17%, respectively.
