The German security company Ghostery, launched a report in which it informs that 77,4% of the sites track its visitors. That is, almost eight out of ten collect data about the user on the internet.

The study was conducted from the anonymous statistics of 850 thousand users of 12 countries, including USA, Canada, France and Germany. The two main trackers are Google e Facebook, whose main business is digital advertising.

According to the company, this is the most comprehensive study ever undertaken, as it analyzed more than 144 million sites during the review. The biggest of them is Google, which has reach of 60,2% in the web pages, against the 27,1% of Facebook.

With the help of cookies or fingerprints, these crawlers carefully record each user's movement. In more benign cases, this information is used only for statistical and advertising purposes, the survey said.

The number of crawlers on web pages varies: 43,6% are between two and nine, while 16,2% are more than ten. The most used data detection tool on the internet is Google Analytics, which gives you various types of information about devices that are used to access a web page, such as device model, internet service provider, age, location and average visit to the site.

"Crawlers can gain access to highly personal information from which conclusions can be drawn not only about an individual's financial situation, interests and buying plans, but also about their sexual orientation, health, political opinions, and religious beliefs“, Defends the research.
