Vodacom Lesotho and Entrepreneurship World Cup announce program for national and international startups

The foundation Vodacom Lesotho in partnership with Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) launched the Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC), a program that will offer entrepreneurs the chance to achieve funding of up to US$1 million in global prizes, as well as access to international mentors and investors, and local prizes and local incubation.

Tšepo Ntaopane, Vodacom's corporate affairs executive, speaking at the launch event, said that the EWC is a national initiative aimed at reducing the high unemployment rate in the country.

The Manager noted that Vodacom Foundation Lesoho is challenged by the unemployment rate in the country, saying that most entrepreneurs are not eligible to get loans from banks to boost their business, hence they joined EWC's global initiative.

Tšepo Ntaopane underlined that it is vital to invest in local entrepreneurship, as this will boost the country's economy, also emphasizing that entrepreneurs will find a networking network that will help them grow their businesses, saying that they will connect with entrepreneurs from other developed countries, from to learn entrepreneurship skills.

It was revealed that the program is open to any and all startups, as long as they are legally registered or planning to invest in Lesotho, and must not be more than 7 years in business or benefit from any EWC program.

After the application period, applicants will receive free training on entrepreneurship skills, and the winners will be Lesotho's top five StartUps.
