the public company Angola Telecom will transfer all its national transport infrastructure (Backbone) and the metropolitan telecommunications network to private sector companies, in order to make this airline more profitable.

This information was provided by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the public institution, Adilson Santos, yesterday (10), at the launch presentation of the book "Telecommunications networks of the new generation, reality and impact in Angola", by the Angolan engineer Lundoloca Garcia.

According to what Adilson Santos said to the journalists present, this idea of transferring is so that Angola Telecom can stand up to its competitors, in a process managed by an evaluation commission that is dealing with the candidacies, after the delivery period ended, on the 15th of November of this year🇧🇷 The manager informed that, based on the strategy of boosting and making the public business area profitable, it is intended to attract investment and knowledge from the private sector for the management, exploitation and expansion of the infrastructure, as well as the training of staff from the telecommunications operator public.

BUT: Angola Telecom registers losses of 50 million USD in 2020

It should be noted that Angola Telecom is a public telecommunications company, wholly owned by the Angolan State, and with a presence throughout the national territory. Along with the well-known Unitel and Movicel, Angola Telecom is the third company with a global license in the Angolan market.

In its vast curriculum, Angola Telecom has the label of being a pioneering company in the telecommunications sector in the country, and where it currently remains expressive in the national market in terms of fixed telephony and internet. The state-owned operator owns 51% of Angola Cables (responsible for the mooring points of the WACS and SACS submarine cables), without forgetting that Angola Telecom is part of the SAT-3/WASC consortium, leaving it in a leading position in terms of interconnection.
