MenosFios Office. Here's everything you need to know about Threads

2026

The company responsible for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, Meta, launched this Thursday, the 6th, a new social network – named Threads. More than presenting a digital platform different from its other proposals, Meta's objective is to rival Elon Musk's Twitter, which, in recent months, has not lacked controversy.

"Our vision at Threads is to take what Instagram does best and expand that into text, creating a positive and creative space for you to express your ideas.", can be read at blog post shared by Meta this Wednesday, the 5th.

In today's MenosFios office, we show you everything you should know about this latest social network that surpassed 10 million users in just seven hours.

Upon entering Threads, it is easy to notice the similarities with Twitter, although it has a more Instagram-inspired design. You will be able to follow people, see posts they share and like, comment and share.

It also has its own 'feed', which mixes not only content from people you follow, but also content (shared by people you don't follow) recommended by the platform's algorithm.

In the social network it is allowing you to post texts, images and answers. The difference is that there will be a share icon to share the posts directly with other Meta networks, such as Facebook, Instagram e WhatsApp.

In addition, Meta's social network will be connected to Instagram, which means that you will be able to use the same login and username, just by transferring your account to the new platform.

The big difference between Threads and Twitter lies in the decentralized approach of Meta's proposal. But what does this mean? It means that, as with other social networks with this approach (such as Mastodon), Threads users can move their content and interact with other users in different apps

Although this decentralization principle is not yet present, it is believed that in the future it will be possible to see Threads publications on other social networks with these same principles.

"We believe that this decentralized approach, similar to the protocols that govern email and the web itself, will play an important role in the future of online platforms.", wrote Meta.

Threads was created as a space for interaction, where people can come together and discuss a variety of topics.

The objective is to encourage the formation of communities, both between individuals and between companies through resources such as sharing texts, images, likes and comments. The platform allows users to connect, explore common interests and exchange ideas.
