The unavailability of roaming in the country is one of the main reasons why Africell can improve services and expand its telecommunications infrastructure in the remaining provinces, along with the country's capital, Luanda.

This information was revealed by the manager for the company's Strategy area, Gonçalo Faria, speaking at the Angola Tech Hub Forum 2022, where he stressed that Africell "would have services in Benguela if national roaming were a reality and, therefore, could run traffic on the infrastructure of another operator", noting that roaming has been in the pilot phase for a long time.

Speaking at the event on a panel that brought together the main players in the country's telecommunications sector, namely INACOM, Angola Telecom, MS Telcom, Unitel, Movicel and Africell, Gonçalo Faria revealed that the company is currently building its infrastructure in the province of Benguela and regrets that the absence of national roaming has delayed the start of operations, also guaranteeing that in the short term, depending on the availability of equipment, the provinces of Huíla, Benguela and Cabinda will have the signal from the operator.

BUT: Africell reaches two million customers in just one month of operation

On the issue of signal quality in the province of Luanda, the administrator said that the work has not yet been concluded, but that by the end of this year several locations will be reinforced so that the experience of “good quality” remains asymmetrical in all areas. 🇧🇷Even in the province of Luanda, the work is not carried out”, underlining that at the moment the company has the infrastructure that allows them to start up with the services.
