Web Summit 2021 with the presence of more women than men, reveals organization

For the first time in the event's history, the number of women participating in the WebSummit surpassed that of men in this year's edition, representing 50,5% of the total 42.751 participants, according to what was released by the organization.

"The Web Summit today kicked off its first face-to-face conference in two years, welcoming 42.751 attendees from 128 countries. For the first time in the event's ten-year history, there are more women than men in the audience“, can be read in the communiqué of the event.

According to the organization chaired by Paddy Cosgrave, “50,5% of this year's audience are women,” with the number of women increasing since the 2016 edition, “following the launch of the Web Summit's Women in Tech initiative.".

The organization also adds that female representation at the technology event has grown to 50,5% this year, after “45,8% in 2020 and 46,3% in 2019".

In total, in this year's edition, marked by restrictions associated with covid-19, there are 42.751 participants, a number below the 70.469 registered in 2019, in which the event was held without any conditioning.
